Caroline Kent is a Chicago based painter exploring ideas surrounding communication and language. Like poems, her abstract compositions evoke a concentrated, imaginative awareness of an experience or a specific emotional response using forms chosen and arranged for their meaning, impression, and rhythm. Caroline Kent earned a BS in Art at Illinois State University and an MFA at the University of Minnesota. Kent has exhibited nationally at The Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, The Flag Art Foundation, NY, The DePaul Art Museum, Chicago, The California African American Museum, LA, and Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Her work is included in the permanent collections of The New Orleans Museum of Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, the Walker Art Center, The Joyner/Guiffrida Private Collection, and Macalester College. Kent is represented by Patron Gallery in Chicago and Casey Kaplan Gallery in New York.
