Rojas uses a wide range of media, including painting, installation, and video. Her images reference high art and popular culture—West Coast modernism and Quaker art, Byzantine mosaics, Native American textiles, sign painting, and outsider art. Her narrative paintings have explored the traditional and often subordinate roles of women without sexual exploitation or overt eroticism, making her works both poignant and empowering. Rojas has received numerous accolades for her work, including grants from the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation, the Joan Mitchell Foundation, the Eureka Fellowship Award, and the Artadia Award. She has had solo exhibitions at Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts, San Francisco; Deitch Projects, New York City; the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, Massachusetts; MUSAC (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León), Spain; Marella Gallery, Beijing; Museum Het Domein, Netherlands; and various international group exhibitions including the Prague Biennial. Her work is in the permanent collections of MoMA New York, NY; SFMOMA, CA; Dakis Joannou Collection, Athens, Greece; Progressive Art Collection, Cleveland, OH; San Jose Museum of Art, CA; Berkeley Art Museum, CA; and the Smart Museum, University of Chicago, IL. She is represented by Jessica Silverman Gallery in San Francisco.
