Robert Yoder has built a reputation for confounding viewer’s expectations by making art out of fragments of other things that in his hands become intricate and harmonious compositions. Past series have included materials such as recycled highway signs, children’s Legos building blocks, and luxury brand shopping bags, which he dissects and rearranges into unimaginable and energetic explosions with shards pushing to the edges of the work. He has shown extensively throughout the Pacific Northwest including such venues as the Seattle Art Museum; The Center of Contemporary Art, Seattle, WA; Bellevue Art Museum, Bellevue, WA; The Tacoma Art Museum, Tacoma, WA and The Schneider Museum of Art, Ashland, OR.
