Steve Briscoe is primarily known for eloquent sculptural constructions investigating materials and processes and reflecting on the built environment and contemporary culture. However, his graphic output is also worth investigating. During the mid-nineties, his word paintings (acrylic and pastel on paper) led to this group of prints. Intimate and amusing, nicknames and epithets go hand in hand with images that are more iconic than literal. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Oakland Museum of Art, and the Berkeley Museum of Art, California, among others.
